About Billie
Billie Johnson, LSWAIC
You are more than the hardest thing you’ve been through
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you ask for help. Billie believes behavior makes sense once we take the time to understand the person behind it. Anxiety, shutting down, overthinking, anger, avoidance, and feeling overwhelmed don’t happen in a vacuum. There’s usually a story underneath. Therapy with Billie is a place to get curious about that story without judgment, understand the patterns keeping you stuck, and figure out what you want to do differently.
Billie works with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and family challenges, emotional dysregulation, and major life transitions. She has a particular passion for teens and young adults who don’t feel comfortable in therapy right away, or who have struggled to feel understood by the adults around them.
Her approach is warm, straightforward, and human. Billie doesn’t think therapy should feel like being analyzed from across the room. She wants to know who you are, not just what brought you in. She’ll ask questions, help you make connections, and respectfully challenge you when it helps you grow. There’s room for serious conversations, and there’s room for humor and for days when you just need to talk about life.
Billie draws from CBT, DBT-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based, person-centered approaches. She doesn’t bring the same formula to everyone. Sometimes the work is practical skill-building. Other times it’s recognizing patterns, strengthening boundaries, understanding emotions, or exploring experiences that still shape the present.
Good therapy isn’t about becoming a completely different person. It’s about understanding yourself more clearly, noticing what isn’t working anymore, and building the confidence and tools to make choices that fit the life you want. You don’t need to know exactly where to begin. That’s something you can figure out together.
Background & experience
Before moving into outpatient therapy, Billie worked with children, teens, and families in pediatric healthcare and inpatient adolescent behavioral health. She has supported people through mental health crises, suicidal thoughts and self-harm, trauma, family conflict, and long stretches of uncertainty. That work reinforced something she believes deeply: a diagnosis, behavior, or crisis never tells the whole story of who someone is.
Billie earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Washington and is a Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) in Washington State.
Billie is completing her clinical supervision toward independent licensure under the supervision of Jasmine Gregory, LICSW.
